This year’s event is expected to welcome over 1,000 students in Grades 4 through 8 from across UGDSB elementary schools. The competition brings together students to showcase their talents in a wide range of hands-on, skills-based challenges focused on innovation, creativity, and problem-solving.

Students will compete in the following categories:

  • LEGO Mechanics (Grades 4–6 and 7–8)

  • LEGO Robotics (Grades 4–6 and 7–8)

  • VEX Robotics (Grades 4–6 and 7–8)

  • TV/Video Production (Grades 7–8)

  • Construction Challenge (Grades 7–8)

  • Green Energy (Grades 7–8)

  • Health and Safety (Grades 7–8)

  • Tech Design (Grades 7–8)

The Elementary Skills Competition highlights UGDSB’s strong commitment to STEM and skilled trades education. Through experiential learning opportunities, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and technical skills that support future pathway development in both academic and hands-on fields.

“This event is an incredible opportunity for students to explore their interests, apply their learning in meaningful ways, and build confidence in their abilities,” said Charles Benyair, UGDSB Technological Education Lead. “We are proud to provide experiences that help students discover pathways and develop skills that will serve them for life.”

The UGDSB extends its appreciation to staff, volunteers, and community partners who make this event possible and continue to support student success across the system.
