Aberfoyle Public School just hosted its first annual Science Fair. This event was open to students from Kindergarten - Grade 8, who chose a research topic on their own and completed a project to display at the event.
Grade 7 Aberfoyle student Wesley G. has been selected to present his science fair project at the 2026 Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF), which will take place in Edmonton, Alberta from May 23–30, 2026, at the Edmonton Expo Centre.
The Canada-Wide Science Fair is Canada’s largest annual youth STEM event and brings together approximately 400 of the top young innovators from across the country in Grades 7–12. Being selected to attend is a tremendous honour and a major academic achievement. Information about this year’s fair can be found here: https://cwsf-espc.ca/
Wesley earned this opportunity through a highly competitive process. He took his Science Fair project - "Test Before You Toss - Using ATP to Check Milk Freshness" to the Canadian Black Scientists Network (CBSN) Ontario Region Science Fair held at the University of Guelph on April 11, where he placed 2nd overall. One week later, he competed again at the CBSN Super Regional competition and once again placed 2nd overall.
The CBSN Super Regional serves as a feeder event for the Canada-Wide Science Fair, with the top three participants earning an all-expenses-paid trip to compete nationally.
Wesley will be competing in this national event in Edmonton at the end of May. The whole school community is very proud of his accomplishments!
