White text on a black and beige abstract background reads "UBUNTU - I am because we are."

The Upper Grand District School Board is offering a free summer mental health program for Black youth in Grades 7-12.

UBUNTU is a culturally grounded, Black-led affinity program focused on well-being, identity, connection, and resilience. Rooted in the principle of “I am because we are,” the program creates a safe, identity-affirming space where Black youth can connect with peers, build confidence, and explore wellness practices alongside Black mental health professionals and mentors.

Through group discussions, creative activities, culturally relevant coping strategies, and peer-supported learning, students will build skills to help navigate stress, strengthen emotional regulation, and support positive identity development.
