Two bands from Erin District High School have returned from the MusicFest Nationals with gold.
Now in its 53rd year, MusicFest Canada’s “The Nationals” is a festival that brings together thousands of students and educators from across Canada for one week to celebrate excellence in musical performance.
The Erin District High School TEMPO band and Jazz band participated in MusicFest Nationals the second week of May in Niagara Falls. Both bands received a gold standing, meaning "that an ensemble has achieved excellence in all facets of its performance" (MusicFest Canada, 2026).
The TEMPO band, of which all Jazz band participants are members as well, has grown to 45 students, up from 36 last year and 30 members in 2023. Now in its second year of existence, the Jazz band has grown from 11 to 16 members.
Both bands range from grades 9 to 12 and are open to anyone at the school who is committed to rehearsals, regardless of their ability or experience level. This is the fourth year participating in the National festival and the third year achieving a gold standing, this year in both groups.
“Their hard work and dedication to each other have led them to this well-deserved achievement,” said EDHS teacher Cara Cameron.
Congrats to the musicians and educators on this achievement!
