An art display at PMPS

On June 2, 2026, Princess Margaret Public School (PMPS) came together with the community to celebrate their commitment to the arts. This year’s theme focused on learning about artists from around the world, and art from Princess Margaret PS art teacher, Ms. Ellis. Ellis’ art even inspired students to create their own unique works.

Each year, PMPS hosts an Arts Evening, where every child selects one piece from their portfolio to showcase. These pieces are displayed in the library, where parents and caregivers can visit and enjoy the exhibit. A wide variety of mediums are represented, including watercolours, pastels, chalk pastels, acrylic paints, and modelling materials.

The evening also highlighted the musical talents within the school. Under the direction of Mrs. Penney, the school band has worked diligently all year. The school choir, led by Ms. Ellis and Mrs. Penney, also performed beautifully, singing songs that inspired the audience. According to school principal Andrea Papavasiliou, “Their songs are always upbeat, and the audience can't help but to singalong to the positive words being sung. Several students even performed solos during their performance.”

Following the performances, the PMPS School Council and Student Council hosted a Family Fun Night. Activities included face painting, pizza, freezies, and a variety of lawn games including bowling, curling, corn hole, potato sack races, and more.

PMPS is looking forward to Arts Night next year. They wish to thank all those involved in the night, especially Mrs. Mikulik, student council and volunteers, school council, Mrs. Penney, and Ms. Ellis.
