Earlier this month, students and staff at Grand Valley and District Public School hosted a community food drive for the Grand Valley Food Bank. They collected food every day for a week, and each day had a specific theme as the donation ‘ask.’
On Monday, the school collected boxed food, on Tuesday they collected canned food, Wednesday was condiment day, Thursday they collected foods that are fall colours, and Friday was non-perishable treat day.
Once the food drive ended, kindergarten students at the school created a ‘domino’ display through the school hallways and started the ‘domino’ effect as primary students watched. The final display that students made in the hall was a farm made from all the items that were collected throughout the week.
By the end of the week, the school was able to donate 254 lbs. of non-perishable food to support the Dufferin community.
Great job, Grand Valley & District PS!
