Students from the Willow Road Public School Choir, which consists of students from primary, junior and intermediate grades recently entered the CBC Music Class Challenge.
The Music Class Challenge encourages educators from across Canada to teach their students a song from the Challenge's curated list. Classes have a chance to win prizes and the top 10 groups will be announced on June 10, 2025.
The Willow Road PS group is a small choir, with a lot of heart! They come together for their love of singing and music, under the direction of teachers Kate Archibald and Holly Nixon.
For this year's Music Class Challenge, the choir performed the song "Yohahí:yo (The Good Road)," which is this year's Indigenous language song for the Music Class Challenge.
As recognition for their submission to the Challenge, the Choir has been awarded a special prize - a session with Indigenous Artist Naomi Smith, who will teach choir members how to make their own hairpipe bracelets.
