Grade 4 student leads fundraising effort

Photo collage of hair cutting, before and after shots, and a cheque presentationAt Victoria Terrace Public School in Fergus, grade 4 student Chloe A. shaved her head to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society, and also as a reminder that it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it’s what’s on the inside that counts. Chloe herself raised $700 for the cause, and challenged the Victoria Terrace community to do the same. When the rest of the school also raised $700, Mrs. Wilson, office coordinator and Mrs. Kowch, principal, also shaved their heads. The Guelph-Wellington chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society was presented with a cheque for $1,400. Cameron G. (who’s mom is battling cancer) came to have the “before” picture taken, and Chloe posed with Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Kowch for the “after” photo. The fundraiser was done in conjunction with Bullying Awareness & Prevention week.
