On October 18, 2023, hundreds of grade 8 students from several Upper Grand District School Board schools attended a Career Pathways event at the Italian Canadian Club in Guelph.
GCVI’s electrical car team wins big at the University of Waterloo EV Challenge
Zoom zoom! This past Saturday, the Guelph CVI Electric Vehicle team, in partnership with Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), competed at the University of Waterloo EV Challenge. Preparation for this event had been taking place since September.

Grade 12 Indigenous students invited to Skilled Trades Training Program
Upper Grand DSB students have an opportunity to participate in an Indigenous Youth Skilled Trades Training Program. This hands-on program is open to self-identified grade 12 Indigenous students.

Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute’s (GCVI) SHSM electric car was on display at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE).

UGDSB students take home gold at Skills Canada Nationals 2022
The Upper Grand District School Board had seven high schools participate in the Skills qualifying, provincial, and national competitions this year. Four students headed to the National Skills competition.

Summer Camp for students in grades 6-8 hosted at Minto-Clifford PS and Wellington Heights SS
This July, the Upper Grand DSB is offering free Summer Camps focused on coding and construction. These camps are open to all UGDSB students in Grades 6-8 (coding) and Grade 7-8 (construction).
Secondary students at the UGDSB participate in Skills Ontario Competition
On Wednesday May 4, secondary students in the Upper Grand District School Board participated and placed at the 2022 Skills Ontario Competition, which took place virtually this year.
