Policy 416 Employee Attendance Support
Policy Statement
The Upper Grand District School Board (UGDSB) promotes regular and consistent attendance at work through an approach that supports employee health and well-being. UGDSB recognizes and appreciates that all school board employees play an important role in contributing to a supportive, positive, and healthy school board community, and that stability and continuity are vital across the organization.
The UGDSB takes a comprehensive approach when responding to employee absences related to personal illness, injury, and medical disability. The Attendance Support Program (ASP) promotes employee wellness and the reduction of absences through various means, which may include individualized workplace accommodation, support, and return-to-work planning, as appropriate for the individual. By reinforcing the importance of regular and consistent attendance in maintaining the employment relationship, the ASP ensures high-quality service and outcomes for students, families, employees, and the broader community.
