West Guelph Consolidated JK-8 French Immersion (FI) Feasibility Study

The Board’s Long Term Accommodation Plan (LTAP), identified a program review to conduct a West Guelph Consolidated JK-8 FI Feasibility Study.  The purpose of this study was to determine the viability of a consolidated JK-8 FI program in West Guelph.

Public feedback was received during the previous West Guelph JK-8 FI Boundary Review about the lack of a consolidated JK-8 FI program in West Guelph.  The FI program established as an outcome of that Boundary Review process is Gateway Dr PS JK-3 FI and Willow Rd PS Grade 4-8 FI.

The Feasibility Study was initiated on June 22, 2021. On October 26, 2021, the Board approved the following recommendation from the Final Report:

“that the Board does not proceed at this time with a public review process to create a consolidated JK-8 FI program in West Guelph due to a lack of sufficient capacity in existing schools”.
