This fall, Intermediate students from across the Upper Grand District School Board took part in AgScape’s annual thinkAG Career Competition—an engaging, hands-on event designed to help students make real-world connections to the agriculture and food sector.

Students in Grades 7–12 rotated through interactive stations, met agri-food industry representatives, and even interacted with live animals while exploring a wide range of future career pathways.

Participants earned points by completing challenges, demonstrating key skills, and answering questions about careers and their links to agriculture. For the first time, a Career Competition Plaque was awarded to the top-scoring classes to proudly display in their school trophy cases.

Congratulations to Jess Penney’s Intermediate class at Victoria Cross and Shannon Walker’s Intermediate class at Willow Road, the inaugural winners of this year’s ThinkAg Career Competition plaque! Their curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm for learning about the agri-food sector truly set them apart.
