A photo of Wesley with his project

Earlier this year, Aberfoyle PS student Wesley G., competed in Alberta for the Canada-Wide Science Fair.

The Canada-Wide Science Fair is Canada’s largest annual youth STEM event and brings together the top young innovators from across the country in Grades 7–12. Being selected to attend is a tremendous honour and a major academic achievement. Information about this year’s fair can be found here: https://cwsf-espc.ca/

Wesley is a grade 7 student who brought his project about milk freshness with him to Edmonton, Alberta for this competition. Wesley’s project focused on testing milk before tossing it.

This year, Wesley was one of 390 students from across the country competing in various categories at the Science Fair. Wesley was awarded a gold medal, as one of the top 10 projects in Canada in the Junior Category. In addition, he was awarded a Challenge award for the top Agriculture project in Canada in the Junior Category.

As a result of this amazing win, Wesley was awarded a $10,000 entrance scholarship to various Canadian Universities.

When reflecting on the experience, Wesley said, "Competing at the Canada Wide Science Fair was a lot of fun and a great experience. I met a bunch of smart innovators who became friends. Winning the Gold medal and Challenge award has really motivated me to come back even stronger next year."

Congratulations, Wesley! This is an amazing accomplishment at such a young age.
