The Upper Grand District School Board is proud to once again celebrate National AccessAbility Week.

Running May 25 - 31, 2025, National AccessAbility Week is an annual event that marks “the important contributions made by Canadians with disabilities, and to put a spotlight on the leadership of those who work tirelessly to make Canada more accessible and inclusive.”

On Wednesday, May 28, many students and staff across the UGDSB will be wearing red shirts as they participate in Red Shirt Day of Action for Accessibility and Inclusion. This call to action is an opportunity to improve accessibility and inclusion for Canadians living with disabilities.

Other themed days throughout the week include Fun Facts on Tuesday, May 27, Adaptive Sport & PE on Thursday, May 29, and Assistive Tech in Action on Friday, May 30.

For those looking for classroom resources and resources for parents/guardians, the Rick Hansen Foundation website is a great source. Links to specific information can be found below.

The Terry James Resource Centre (TJRC) also has many resources available to students and staff. Books and resources are available through TJRC online using Sora, videos are available through Curio and physical books can be checked out by staff. Learn more on the TJRC website.
