Mitchell Woods PS will continue to be closed on Monday, October 20 to allow for final testing, cleaning and preparing classrooms for students to return. We anticipate that students and staff will be able to return on Tuesday, October 21.
Students are to continue remote learning where possible. Staff will have asynchronous material for students to work through in the afternoon to allow them time to setup classrooms for students. All buses and taxis will be cancelled to the school until it reopens.
We will continue to post updates online on progress and plans for Tuesday. https://www.ugdsb.ca/article/11757

We have determined that the fire at Mitchell Woods PS was contained to the boiler room, although the smoke and soot damage has taken time to remediate and clean. This cleaning will continue over the weekend.
We remain hopeful for a return to school on Monday, October 20, however, we are asking families and staff to have a backup plan in case an additional day is required for cleaning and testing. We will provide an update on Sunday around 5:00 p.m. to confirm the plans for Monday morning.
In the event we require an extra day, students and staff would continue in remote learning where possible. All buses and taxis will remain cancelled to the school until it reopens. https://www.ugdsb.ca/article/11757
