This year, 31 classes across 19 schools were registered for the Students Taking Action Reading Solo / Élèves Prennent Action en Lecteur Autonome (STARS / EPALA) program with grades K through 8 represented. The 681 students read a combined total of 54,591 minutes - equivalent to 910 hours, or 38 days! https://www.ugdsb.ca/article/8393

The UGDSB will be sending out a test message to all families and staff this week.
The test message will be sent on Wednesday March 19 at approximately 4pm. It will be sent to staff and families via text, email and phone. The message will clearly indicate that it is a test and no action is required.

The Centennial Rogues improv team at CCVI is heading to the National Canadian Improv Games in Ottawa next month after winning the Tri-City Tournament https://www.ugdsb.ca/article/8374

Over the next several months, families of students in grades 7-12+ with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism will have the opportunity to access valuable resources and guidance through a series currently underway called Transitioning to Adulthood. https://www.ugdsb.ca/article/7733

ICYMI: Students in the Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program at two Orangeville secondary schools are working with Habitat for Humanity to build a “tiny” home in collaboration with a First Nations community in the Saugeen area. https://www.ugdsb.ca/article/8130

Big congrats to Westside SS on winning silver at the OSEA Provincial Championship for the second year in a row! 🎉👏 The Westside Valorant eSports Team played an incredible tournament, showcasing skill, strategy, and teamwork. Huge thanks to the SHSM program, UGDSB, and coaches Mackintosh & Gunn for their support!

This past weekend, the GCVI Cheer team competed in the Rising Start Cheer Classic competition, held this year at the Sleeman Cnetre. They delivered a flawless performance, with zero deductions, and were awarded 1st place in the intermediate division. The team is hard at work preparing for OFSAA in April!


Due to inclement weather, UGDSB schools and offices in Zones 2, 3, and 4 (Centre Wellington, North Wellington and Dufferin) are closed today to staff and students. Students are to shift to remote learning, where possible. Staff should not report to work in person, and should shift to remote working where possible. All buses and taxis are cancelled to those affected schools. Schools and offices in Zone 1 (Guelph) remain open today.

GCVI’s Black Futures Month Assembly was a powerful celebration of Umoja (unity)! 🎶💃🏾 The event featured music, dance, spoken word, and a performance by Waleed Abdulhamid. Students came together to honour Black culture and history in an unforgettable way.
